Why is vibration testing necessary?
If the purpose of the vibration test can be clearly understood, then the necessity of the vibration test will be comprehended as well.
In today's global economic trend, it has shifted from the previous regional economic model to a global economic trade model. Whether it is a regional market or entering the global market, high-quality performance is an undeniable fact. And vibration testing is an indispensable tool to assist your products in entering the high-quality category.
During the process of a product reaching the hands of the users, different states of vibration will be generated, causing varying degrees of damage to the product. For the product, any damage is not what the manufacturers and customers would like to see. However, the vibration during the transportation process is inevitable. If we blindly increase the packaging cost, it will inevitably lead to serious and unnecessary waste. On the contrary, fragile packaging will cause high costs for the product and loss of product image and market. All of these are not what we would like to see.
Vibration testing began to sprout about forty or fifty years ago. When the theory was established, it did not help people believe its importance. It was not until the Second World War that many aircraft, ships, vehicles, and equipment, after use, unexpectedly found that the proportion of component failures was quite high. After research, it was found that most of the reasons were due to the fact that their structures could not withstand the long-term resonance they themselves produced, or the resonance caused by the transported items during transportation. Components loosened, cracked, and led to component failure and even huge losses. When this result was announced, vibration testing began to be valued by all sectors, and a large amount of funds and manpower were invested in research. Later, after the establishment of the near theories for vibration measurement analysis and simulation analysis, the methods and logic of vibration testing were continuously improved. Especially with the frequent circulation of goods nowadays, vibration testing becomes even more important.
However, the purpose of the vibration test is to conduct a series of controllable vibration simulations in the experiment, to test whether the product can withstand the tests of transportation or vibration environmental factors during its life cycle, and to determine the requirements standards for product design and functions. According to statistical data, increasing the design level by 3% will increase 20% of recovery and reduce 18% of unnecessary expenditures. Vibration simulation has different methods according to different purposes, such as resonance search, resonance residence, cyclic scanning, random vibration, and stress screening, etc. And the effects of vibration include:
1. The strength of the structure.
2. The detachment of the combination.
3. The wear of the protective material.
4. The damage of components.
5. Poor contact of electronic components.
6. Circuit short circuits and intermittent instability.
7. Deviation of standard values of each component.
8. Screening out defective parts in advance.
9. Identifying the resonance relationship between parts, structure, packaging and transportation process, and improving the resonance factors.
As for the vibration test procedure, it is necessary to evaluate and determine the test specifications, the authenticity of fixture design, the functional checks during the test process, and the assessment, review and suggestions for the final test pieces. The essence of vibration testing lies in confirming the reliability of the product, screening out defective products before they are manufactured, and conducting failure analysis of the defective products to achieve a high-quality and highly reliable product.
